Child Welfare Durban & District (CWDD) is one of South Africa’s largest child protection organisations, serving vulnerable children and families across Durban and KwaZulu-Natal. As a registered non-profit and designated child protection organisation, CWDD provides prevention, early intervention, statutory services, adoption services, foster care support, and residential care for children who have experienced abuse, neglect, abandonment, or other forms of vulnerability.
The organisation works to protect children’s rights, strengthen families, and provide permanent care solutions where family reunification is not possible. Through its adoption department, child and youth care centres, foster care programmes, and social work services, CWDD supports children from crisis intervention through to long-term permanency planning.
