Common root causes of miscarriage:

There are various factors that may contribute towards having a miscarriage, although not all of them are related to your egg quality. When an early miscarriage happens, which is usually in the first 12 weeks. More than half of the time it’s because of a problem with the baby’s chromosomes.

Chromosomes contain the genes that determine your baby’s unique traits, such as eye and hair colour. A baby cannot grow normally with the wrong number of chromosomes or with damaged ones. There are several other chromosomal abnormalities that can cause the loss of pregnancy as well.

Main conditions that cause miscarriage:

Low Progesterone:

Progesterone is a crucial hormone for sustaining a pregnancy During the first trimester, progesterone is delivered merely by the corpus luteum. If the output of progesterone levels are slow, it would mean a higher risk of miscarriage.

Substandard Sperm Quality:

In order for a successful pregnancy to take place, a healthy egg and sperm is required. If the genetic material within the head of the sperm has been compromised during development, a miscarriage is more likely to occur.

Anatomical Issues:

This refers to physical malformation of the uterus, uterine growths, scar tissue or adhesion, potential impact of a prior abdominal surgery, which may increase the chances of having a miscarriage. In these cases, surgical treatment may be required.

Immune disturbance:

The process of implantation involves the activity of numerous inflammatory markers, otherwise having a background of autoimmune conditions are considered to be at higher risk for miscarriage.

Thyroid Dysfunction:

Thyroid balance is critical for pregnancy success. Be sure to rule out any autoimmune conditions, such as Hashimoto’s and Graves’ disease by requesting thyroid antibody screening.

Blood clotting:

There are many aspects that could affect or reduce your blood flow, however it is imperative to have a healthy blood flow in order for a pregnancy to continue. If there is anything interfering with the delicate blood clotting balance, a pregnancy loss is more likely to occur.

Nutrient Deficiencies:

This is often overlooked, but a very common situation. It is also possible to have an excess of nutrients.Nutrient imbalance can impact both egg or sperm quality, which is why it is so important.

PCOS & Endometriosis:

These are complex metabolic conditions which may impact multiple body systems, including reproductive organs. The risk of these conditions also extend to pregnancy loss, which is why they need t be monitored very closely.
